Eligibility Criteria

  1. The candidates must have completed their 10+2 from a recognized board or university.
  2. They should have completed their 10+2 with 50% in Physics, chemistry and Mathematics as mandatory subjects.
  3. For the other categories such as OBC, SC/ST or PWD the minimum percentage decreases to 5%.
  4. Candidates can also take admissions through lateral entry after completion of their diploma and join second year of the 4-year degree program.

Admission Process

To get admissions into the top colleges for the Bachelor of Technology in Instrumentation and Control Engineering students need to attend entrance exams which are conducted on national level, state level and some deemed t be universities conduct their own entrance exams which are university level exams. Apart from entrance exams there are also other ways of getting admissions. Students need to apply on the exam portal and also apply to colleges that they want to choose. The results depend on opening and closing ranks and every year the cut off percentage changes. The other way is to get direct admissions. There are also a few colleges that offer management seats on the basis of capitation.

Students can directly apply for the course on the college`s official portal and submit a few documents like the 10th and 12th standard marks card and pay the admission fee. Some institutions also offer admissions on the basis of merit quota by preparing a list of merit holders, merit performance is the student’s best performance in their 12th.

Career and Scope

The course being an interdisciplinary branch is associated with many other engineering disciplines. It has a wide range of applications in various fields. This course is a thin on the ground course and there is not much competition in India as compared to any other endeavours in engineering. But if you clear the GATE exam, you will have undoubtedly all possibilities of getting a good job in the public sector.

The main responsibility of an Instrumentation control engineer is to perform the function design, develop and install the maintaining equipment and ensure that the system is performing smoothly effectively and efficiently. With the growing speed in the Indian economy and foreign investment the country is definitely in need of professionally qualified and skilled engineers to perform the expected job.

Career opportunities are high on demand more in abroad countries and students are offered chances in wide range of industries to showcase their skills and knowledge. The course is more technology oriented and helps students gain tremendous knowledge on the usage of abundant automations and systems. Mostly this field flourishes in Health sector, agriculture, aviation, air force (technical aspect), security space, manufacturing and processing sectors.

The salary packages are quite attractive as the craze of Instrumentation and control engineer is less and on demand in very few students. Thus, the salary packages are comparatively high and around ₹ 3.5 lacs. As the employee`s experience grows in the field, they have more avenues for better salary packages.

After the completion of BTech degree students can also take up their higher education such as M.E/MTech in Instrumentation Control Engineering or an MBA for management related jobs in different fields.
