NEET also called as National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is an all India pre medical entrance test for students who are willing to pursue any sort of Medical, Dental, Veterinary course and AYUSH courses pertaining to Ayurveda and siddha medicine. NEET is the only gateway for students to get into the top private and government institutions. Also for those who want to pursue any medical or dental related courses abroad.
This exam is been conducted by the NTA also called as National Testing Agency which provides the all over India results to the Directorate General of Health Services under Ministry of Health and Family welfare and state counseling authorities for seat allocation.
Previously it was AIPMT All India Pre Medical Test conducted by various states and various medical colleges. Big private institutions like AIIMS All India Institute of Medical Sciences and JIPMER Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research conducted their own entrance exams until NEET UG became a common entrance test after the enactment of NMC Act of September 2019. Now NEET is the only entrance exam which will open your doors to get into top medical colleges if wishing to pursue medical.
Candidates should have completed 17 years of age as of December 31st. Any decision on the maximum upper limit of age is still pending thus all candidates are provisionally eligible to apply for NEET.
As with the amendments of 2018, the restrictions on the number of attempts for NEET exam was removed. So as per the new rules there is no limit towards appearance of the exam. A candidate will be allowed to appear for the exam as many times that he could attempt only if they are eligible.

NEET cut off will be only released once the results are declared. Every year the cut off differs. Candidates can check the NEET cut offs to get an estimation of their medical admission through their NEET scores.
The candidates who score above the NEET percentile are eligible to take part in the admission process. The cut off varies from categories belonging from reserved and unreserved.
