B.Tech Infrastructure Engineering / bachelor of technology in infrastructure engineering is a very important domain of civil engineering and structural engineering. The course is a very rarely chosen course by many students. The program which deals in construction is an important core competency of construction engineering. Infrastructure engineering is a 4-year undergraduate course which deals with the construction of different methodologies in infrastructure of roads, tunnels, bridges, skyscrapers, dams, tunnels, towers and everything that constitutes infrastructure around us. The program lays more emphasis on an individual structure as a whole or the construction of an entire public community as a whole. The BTech course is further divided in 8 semesters in which candidates are given extensive training on designing and development of modern structures such as the above-mentioned structures including canals, buildings and more.
The course includes a lot of civil engineering subjects and specializations like civil infrastructure design, highway infrastructure design etc. students will be taken on industrial visits for projects and internships, which helps them to become well prepared for performances in real work zone and on-job trainings. BTech infrastructure engineering and civil engineering are almost two similar courses. But infrastructure engineering focusses on building structures and also lays emphasis on the overall development of infrastructure of not just civil constructions but also community building. This course is offered by very few colleges and the average salary for infrastructure engineering can be around 5 lakh INR. The course is verily career oriented and offers plenty of career opportunities for students to make the community look good and to obtain this they work in unison. This degree is available in both distance and regular education.
In order to get admissions for BTech program students need to appear for entrance exams. Entrance exams will be conducted on national level, state level and many universities conduct their own entrance exams called as university level entrance exams. For entrance exams the students first need to make a choice as to which entrance exam they need to attend. After the completion of their class 12th students can start filling the application forms of the college that they want to choose. Then there is merit based admissions on the basis of their class 12th merit performance after the college releases a list of the merit holders.
Admissions can also be done through lateral entry process. After the completion of the 3-year diploma course in the same field on infrastructure engineering candidates can get admissions in BTech 2nd year degree program directly through lateral entry. There are also a few colleges which offer management seats for students and those students can opt for admissions for the course by just fulfilling the eligibility criteria and paying the admission fee for which document verification will be done. Management seats can be with huge capitation and fees.
