Master of Law / LLM

Overview

Master of Law / LLM is a post graduate degree which is attained after completing a Bachelors Degree in LAW that is LLB. There is no age limit in completing this course and there are many colleges around the country which provides LLM programs. The program is for those who want to have a deep study about the rules and regulations of the country.

The course duration to complete the course is about 2 years, and a 1 year course has also been introduced. The course specializes in International Trade Law, Intellectual Property Law, Taxation Law, Family Law and Constitutional Law and many more. The Specialization courses are the specific to be chosen in a particular field.

After the completion of the course a person is termed as the most knowledgeable person in the respective field of LAW. With the Degree of LLM the candidate is already having a personalized legal training. They are having all the qualities to work in any field that requires a legally skilled person.

Eligibility Criteria

The only educational qualification required is to have a LLB degree. The second requirement is to go through an entrance test. The minimum marks secured in LLB should be or greater than 55%. In few of the colleges there is a relaxation of 5% for SC, ST, OBC and Person with Disability.

For a Masters in Law degree holder there are various fields in which they can work. There are Litigation Firms, Research departments, Arbitration Consultancies, College and Universities, Corporate Legal Departments, Courtrooms and Law Firms. The types of Jobs allocated here are Advocate, District and Sessions Judge, Notary, Trustee, Law Reporter, Attorney General, Magistrate, Public Prosecutor, Solicitor, Legal Expert and much more.

Abroad Opportunity The Laws of other countries are different from one another. However is a person studies in different other Law institution of a country, then they are able to work with them. There are Law Colleges in various countries that provide scholarship to study with an allocating job afterwards.
