B.Tech Production Engineering

Overview

B.Tech Production Engineering is a very peculiar and rare branch of engineering science that deals with the scientific principles and different methodologies to improvise the efficiency and effectiveness of manufacturing and production sectors. Production engineering is a 4-year under graduate degree course which is further divided into 8 semesters in which different combinations of technologies related to manufacturing which is also a part of mechanical engineering and enhances the students in extensive trainings related to applications of production engineering in different aspects.

The course is relatively all about designing, planning, and efficiency in understanding the importance of production process and the manufacturing quality of goods. Control system is also a very essential part of the program. Production engineering is also majorly known as Manufacturing engineering as it evolves both scientific principles and technological aspect together. The entire process of the work is inter related to each other.

The graduates of production engineering will apply their knowledge in disciplines of mathematics, science, engineering and humanities to solve any problem in production engineering. The job opportunities have thus increased in production industries and manufacturing firms and production engineers are in great demand in these areas. After the successful completion of the course, the BTech professionals design, measure, implement and control all the activities within the production sector of that particular organization. The career prospects are very promising in this sector as the production sector is booming.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. The candidate must have completed their 10+2 from a recognized board or university.
  2. The candidates must have completed their 12th with physics, chemistry, and mathematics as mandatory subjects.
  3. They should have scored a minimum of 50% in PCM for general category.
  4. For reserved categories such as SC/ST, OBC, PWD the minimum percentage reduces by 5%.
  5. Diploma holders can also join this BTech program through lateral entry.

Admission Process

Candidates those who are willing to join B.Tech production engineering can get admissions either through entrance exams which are conducted on state level, national level or university level. There are some deemed to be universities which conduct their own entrance exams. Students can choose what level of entrance exams do they want to attend. After writing the exams students are given seats on the basis of the opening and closing ranks. The candidates can also get admissions on the merit basis. Students can get admissions after the colleges release the merit list.

Another option is that students can get direct admissions in the college that they want to get into. They don’t even have to write entrance exams. All they need to do is apply directly on the university portal and fill in the application form and pay the admission fee before the due date. These are management seats which come under management quota.
