JEE Exam

Overview

JEE also called as Joint Entrance Examination is an engineering assessment test which is conducted for admissions in various engineering courses in top engineering colleges of India. JEE Mains is a part of two different examinations.

JEE Mains was formerly called as (AIEEE) All India Engineering Entrance Examination which was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). AIEEE was introduced in the year 2002 and later was renamed as JEE in April 2013 for admissions to a wide choice of undergraduate engineering and architectural courses in prestigious and notable NIT`s National Institute of Technology and IIT`s Indian Institute of Information Technology.

From the year 2019, NTA decided to give the candidates 2 attempts to pass the exam. But for 2021, the exam is set to be conducted 4 times since 2020 was a pandemic year as exam wasn’t held in the previous year. So, candidates can appear in any one of the 4 sessions as conducted by the NTA. Once a candidate is meeting the percentile he/ she is eligible to get admissions in top engineering colleges that they are willing to go in.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates who are applying for JEE Mains should fulfill the eligibility criteria as set by the NTA. The eligibility criteria is bifurcated in various aspects as in age, educational qualification, number of attempts, state eligibility etc. The candidate must check all the above parameters in case of any rejection or cancellation in later stages of admission.

  1. The candidates should have passed their 12th Board exam from a recognized board/ institute
  2. Candidates should have studied Physics, chemistry, and Math as compulsory subjects in their 10+2 exam
  3. Candidates who have passed their 10+2 in the year 2019 or 2020 are eligible to appear in JEE Mains 2021. Whereas candidates who have passed their 10+2 in the year 2016 or before that may not be eligible to attend the JEE Mains 2021
  1. For JEE Mains eligibility a candidate should be an Indian citizen
  2. NRI`s, PIO`s, OCI`s, Foreign Nationals can also apply for the JEE exams
  3. Aadhar card is not compulsory for this exam
  4. Candidates can use Ration card number, passport number, bank account number, or any other number in validation by the government
  1. Candidates need to pass their 12th boards with physics, chemistry and mathematics. Earlier to get into Nit`s and IIT`s students had to score 75% aggregate. But now this year the government has waived off. The class 12th marks sheet is enough
  2. They have their own cut off and sometimes the cut off percentile differs vastly every year
  1. There is no prescribed age limit for anyone to attempt the JEE Mains exam
